What is 'responsive' ?
Responsive web design (RWD) is an approach to web design which makes web pages render well on a variety of devices and window or screen sizes. Responsive has become important lately as we can see that more and more visitors of your webpages see them on tablets or smartphones. This has some consequences
For example :
this is a webpage on a desktop :
this is the same webpage on a tablet

- you miss the menu as it is on the right side
- you see just a part of the picture
- => you need to scroll right
- social media icons are not visible
- …
Because the designer of this website has set it up as responsive you see that the menu is now in the right corner and when you click it becomes a vertical list (called hamburger 😉 ) and the pictures have been reframed to be nicely visible within the sizes on your screen.
As the social media is important for this website the designer has set it up in a way that it will always be on the bottom of the screen in the right corner ( called floating). Also for contact forms and buttons designers must pay special attention : a button can become really small and thus become unusable …
It takes some extra efforts but it is esential in the development of the website.
Relax and enjoy without continues scrolling in all directions.

Google is quiet keen on quality : this is content that you wrote ( not copied), pictures and change ( change your content regularly). When we ( geeks) talk about backoffice we consider the content behind the screens. There one can add some keywords, metadata, etc … Also very important. My examples are not exhaustive ! And Google is continuously renewing algoritms so keep yourself up to date ! If you want people to find your website you must take the time to realy think about your content in terms of SEO. You can measure this with Google Analytics and the Google Search Console, …
